On average, Gartner has estimated the percentage of direct vs. indirect IT Services sales in 2004 to be 59 percent, and this is expected to decline to less than 50 percent by 2007 (see "Direct Sales to Decline as Indirect Efforts Gain Focus," ITSV-WW-DP-0581).

 

However, Gartner also predicts that thirty percent of today's channel companies will no longer exist by 2007.  Much of the demise will be because of poor business practices and ineffective sales models.
